Body bahamablue metallic. Chassis and radiator grille black, interior sand yellow, steering wheel black. Transparent front headlamp inserts. Wheels silver and bumpers black-silver executed. Ornamental trim with window borders, door handles and tailgate lock silver. Reversing lights silver as well, tail lights imprinted red. Silver VW logo on the radiator grille.

Small, but mighty: The first Polo generation stood out with its large tailgate, following in the footsteps of the first Golf model, which rose to become a top seller two years earlier. The seventies called for a new type of car: It was supposed to be compact, but had to offer flexible loading options as well. The Polo first rolled off the belt as an Audi 50, as the newcomer from Wolfsburg originally sprang to life as a pure-bred from the developers’ offices in Ingolstadt. In 1975, its goal was to establish a successful model series below the Golf class - and a success it was and still is today
