Between 1997 and 2000, a total of 80 class 145 locomotives were put into service. Initially, they were mainly used for freight transport by Deutsche Bahn, in particular by DB Cargo. The locomotives are equipped with modern three-phase asynchronous motor technology, have an output of 4,200 kW and feature electric dynamic and recuperation brakes. Today, class 145 is still in service, primarily with private railway companies and leasing companies.
