The private rail operator Rail Traction Company (RTC), based in Bolzano, has been providing cross-border freight services for over 20 years. For several years now, RTC and its partner company Lokomotion have each been operating 5 Siemens Class 189 locomotives. These locomotives, purchased from the locomotive rental company MRCE, have been in use by both companies since their introduction. The RTC locomotives have red zebra stripes, while the Lokomotion locomotives have blue zebra stripes.
