Design of the 3rd construction series with corrugated side walls up to the edge of the roof
The T 478.1 series is a diesel-electric universal locomotive. Between 1966 and 1971, 230 production locomotives were built for the CSD at the CKD works in Prague. The locomotive reaches a top speed of 100 km/h. The 6-cylinder turbocharged engine delivers 1,500 hp.
The Class 749 was created in the 1990s through the conversion of the 751 and 752 series, during which electric train heating systems were installed without making any significant changes to the original locomotives. The decisive factor for this was the more economical use of the Bardotkas in front of short trains. They were used for both passenger and goods trains in the Czech Republic.
