The modern T2000 wagons from railCare, fitted with two permanently installed 45-foot refrigerated containers, replace the sliding-wall wagons previously used on a temporary basis by SBB Cargo. They are specially designed for loading and unloading operations at railway ramps and, thanks to their well-thought-out design, offer a high degree of practicality. A three-part loading platform compensates for height differences relative to the ramp, enabling maximum flexibility when loading and unloading with industrial trucks. With their eye-catching Coop branding, the wagons have become a familiar sight in Swiss freight transport and are in service throughout the country almost every day.
Thanks to their versatility, they operate in a wide variety of train formations and lengths. Just three coaches form a true-to-the-original train model, which can be used behind locomotives from both SBB Cargo and BLS Cargo, as well as behind the railCare Vectron "Coop". The longest all-T2000 trains are the so-called "water trains" operating between Wangen near Olten and Brig. Depending on requirements, 12 to 13 wagons are regularly used on these services.
