Class 185.2 is a dual-system electric locomotive with a crash-optimised body design developed by Bombardier Transportation. It is compatible with both alternating current systems commonly used in Europe: 15 kV/16.7 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz. The first locomotive of this type was delivered to Deutsche Bahn in January 2005. The six units ordered by Green Cargo were assigned operating numbers 185 401-406 and delivered in standard DB red livery. To offset the transfer of three locomotives from DB to Green Cargo, units 185 401-403 became the property of DB Schenker Rail Germany.
