The KINDER-KUNST-LOK was a joint project between ÖBB, ORF Confetti-TiVi and ROCO. In autumn 1998, a drawing competition for children up to the age of 12 was organised under the motto ‘Riding the railway - preserving nature'. Over 60,000 children from all over Austria took part. The jury selected 5-year-old Nino Zorzi from Wiener Neudorf and 12-year-old Christian Jaritz from Graz as the winners. Their drawings were greatly enlarged and applied using foil technology to the left and right sides of
electric locomotive 1044 282-0. The locomotive therefore has two different sides. The driver's cabs were decorated with the characters ‘Rolf Rüdiger' and ‘Confetti' from the ORF's ‘Confetti-TiVi' programme. The prototype was in regular service in Austria and Germany until the beginning of 2000.
