Class 1110 was an ÖBB electric locomotive designed as an express train locomotive that was delivered from the mid-1950s. In 1974 and 1975, ten 1110 units were fitted with DC dynamic brakes. The converted machines were given class designation 1110.5 while retaining the old serial number. Special distinguishing features were the large superstructures on the roof ends with the fans for the electric brakes as well as the single-arm roof current collectors. With a maximum speed of 110 km/h, the locomotives were used in both express and freight traffic service.
