Over 7,000 class 52 units of the war locomotive were built from 1942 to 1950. These were designed with as little effort as possible and material use was also reduced wherever possible. With a weight of 84 tonnes, it achieved an output of 1,192 kW and a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Even after 1945, the locomotives were still indispensable for reconstruction in many parts of Europe.
