Description
This detailed Atlas Master Gold N Scale EMD GP60 locomotive is based on the popular road unit used by a number of railroads. Introduced in 1985 as the refined replacement for the five-year-old 50-series locomotives, the GP60 (and sister SD60) represented a significant leap in locomotive design for EMD. Incorporating computer technology to control locomotive operation and onboard diagnostics, the 3800hp GP60 is designed for hi-speed intermodal traffic. In 2020 most were still in service, with some still hauling fast freights and others (on BNSF) holding down locals alongside other GP diesels. This N Scale GP60 replica comes equipped with a dual-mode ESU LokSound Select sound and DCC decoder with Full Throttle effects for operation on DCC and DC layouts, and features a scale-speed motor with dual flywheels, directional LED lighting, accurate decoration and AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers. This EMD GP60 is one of many Atlas N Scale locomotives.
