Description
Paper mills are some of the busiest spots along many railroads. The HO Scale Walthers Cornerstone Superior Paper Kraft Mill kit is a vital part of your layout's paper mill complex. The first step in paper-making is the kraft (German for strength) mill, where wood is transformed into pulp. Material from pulp tanks is blown through an airlock into the Kraft Mill, separating wood fibers and creating a fiber-water solution brown stock. Special washers remove spent chemicals and other by-products. Typically, the pulp is bleached at this stage and screened one final time. Clean pulp is sprayed onto wire conveyors to drain off the water. It is then pressed into sheets. Most sheets are fed directly to the paper mill while others are dried, cut, stacked and bailed for storage or shipped in boxcars as a commodity.
The Kraft Mill will look great as near other Superior Paper Co. mill buildings. If used by itself, this building makes a great modern boiler house for a major industry such as a food processing complex. The Kraft Mill measures: 15 x 10-1/4 x 19-3/4" 38.1 x 26 x 50.1cm. The Superior Paper Kraft Mill is one of many Cornerstone HO Scale industrial buildings.
