Locomotive 50 849 was built in 1940 with factory number 16058 by the Krauss-Maffei locomotive works in Munich Allach. After 1945, it remained in the Soviet occupation zone and thus with the railway company of the German Democratic Republic (Deutsche Reichsbahn). Finally, after departure from scheduled service, working group 3/75 "Eisenbahntradition" Zwickau, founded in 1979, took over the freight train locomotive. They restored the dilapidated machine back to its visual and technical glory. In 1980, the 50 849 was moved to the traditional park of the DR.
Among the many special train operations, it was also used as a train locomotive for the rolling stock known as the traditional train "Zwickau". To this day, the fully preserved museum locomotive in running order has its home in the Glauchau locomotive depot and is lovingly cared for there.
