Description
Delivered new in 1950 and fitted as 10-6 sleepers (Plan 4140D),five were assigned to the "City of San Francisco" pool in UP colors, two were assigned to the "Cascade" finished in two-tone gray and two for the "Golden State" in bright silver with red upper sides and roof. These unique cars were used in place of traditional observation-lounge cars as a way to generate more revenue. Each was fitted with a blunt end with a small window and an emergency escape door, along with markers and a back-up light. Other features include:
