Description

This detailed Atlas Master Silver N Scale Alco RSD4/5locomotive is based on the popular road switcher used by a number of railroads. Built by Alco between 1950 and 1956, this six-axle diesel was based on it's four-axle contemporary the Alco RS3. Powered by an Alco 244 V-12 engine which was complimented by rugged GE electrical components. RSD4/5s produced the same 1,600hp as an RS3, but offered increased tractive effort due to the use of a larger generator. Many RSD4/5s were assigned to operate in mountainous territory (with varying degrees of success) on the Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and the Utah Railway; others were used to haul heavy drag freights and transfer runs.

This N Scale RSD4/5 replica features a scale-speed motor with dual flywheels, low-friction mechanism, directional golden-white LED lighting, a light board that's easily changed replaced with DCC decoder when you're ready, accurate decoration and AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers. It's also sound-ready and comes equipped with a factory-installed speaker for easy sound conversion. This EMD Alco RSD4/5s is one of many Atlas N Scale locomotives.
