From 24 September 1983 to 4 November 2000, it was based at the Mühldorf depot, a period the model also depicts.\u003cbr\u003eA distinctive feature of the 218 308 was that it remained in service for a very long time in the purple-red livery (RAL 3004), even during the DB AG era after 1994, until December 1998. It also features a Voith ventilation system with its characteristic sound.
