Manufactured in three batches between 1981 and 1983, the locomotives were fitted with the tried-and-tested 1,000 PS motor and a gearbox with a modified gear ratio, similar to that of the first V 100 locomotives. Consequently, the maximum speed was only 65 km\/h. A ballast weight replaced the boiler.
